Easter Bunny Baby

Yep - the Easter Bunny stopped by our house this year, and he is a lot cuter than I remember!

One of our friends sent this adorable bunny outfit. I originally thought it might fit for Halloween but tried it on for Easter and it was a perfect fit. Dane was so adorably cute, i kinda went crazy with the pictures. And these aren't even all of them!

Easter Bunny cont.

And some more!

Happy Easter

Today Dane and I went to my parents for Easter. Paul is still sick (going on 2 weeks) so he stayed home to rest. Dane was a hit with his bunny outfit.

week o fun

I don't have a picture of this but Dane has discovered his hands. He'll just hold his hand in front of his face and slowly move his fingers and just stare in complete amazement at the phenomenon in front of his very own eyes. I often wonder what he's thinking and wish I would allow my life to be simplistic rather than getting caught up in things that are out of my control. Dane eats, sleeps and plays with his rattle. That's all he needs to be happy. He finds pure joy in watching his fingers move. Simplify, and enjoy the little things. I think this week I'll try to take my own advice. K - enough ramblings.

Dane hasn't really done anything new this week but he does get cuter and cuter everyday as evidence by these pictures.

Paul's parents sent Dane a couple of cute bunnies for Easter and like everything else he likes, they went straight for the mouth. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Last Sunday my good friend Ariane was in town so Dane and i went to Park City to have brunch with her. As always, it was great to see her and catch up.

new tricks

Another thing Dane has started to do is in the middle of feedings he'll just put his head back and leave it there for extended amounts of time. I'll often stroke his face and he will gently smile and keep his head back for as long as I'm touching his face. He gets cuter and cuter every day!

Dane has a new trick but you'll have to listen closely. Last week I mention that he flaps his arm but this week he's added to it. Sometimes when he flaps his arm, it works out gas! At the end of this clip you can hear it if you listen. He's all boy!

happy dane

We were playing fetch with Sammy (our dog) and Dane was getting very excited every time Sammy would run after the ball.

last week

I was having problems with blogger so this entry is from last weekend.
Dane is entering a phase where every week it seems like he is discovering or doing something new. Each weekly blog will include a trick of the week (something new that Dane is doing or learned). This week Dane's trick is what I call his chicken wing. Dane has discovered his arms. He will randomly start flapping his arms, especially his left one. It's hilarious. He'll do it when he's eating, getting his diaper changed or just laying on the ground. I don’t have a picture of this but hopefully we can get a video.

We had a really busy week. On Friday we had dinner over at my brother's. Tracy made some super yummy Chinese food and good times were had by all. Dane even got some good cousin time with JD and Jake.

Then on Saturday, Paul and I went to a Jazz game. My sister, Wendy, baby-sat for us. This time was different than others because Dane knew we were leaving him. He was in a great mood before Wendy got there and then started to really fuss when we were leaving. While it made me feel good that he missed us, I felt bad for Wendy that he was a little stinker.

Another thing he's discovered is giggling. We were visiting some friends today that recently had a baby. My friend Rachel was talking to me and Dane just started laughing. Here's a pic of Dane, Noah, Rachel and me.

giggles - daddy and dane

Dane is now discovering that he can giggle. Paul and Dane were lovin' each other!

Dane's shreeks

This video was taken last week. Every week Dane has a new thing and last week it was shreeking. As he continues to grow, he discovers new things and he now knows that he is the one making sounds so he just keeps on going. It's adorable and yet at the same time reminds me of the movie "Dumb and Dumber" where they talk about the most annoying sound on earth. This isn't annoy, rather the opposite for me. I love to hear him shreek!

feeding seat options?

I got the funniest call from Paul today. First a little background. We've been feeding Dane cereal the last couple of days but he hasn't really been loving it. We bought him a new highchair so he had a good place to eat. Well, after watching him squirm in the highchair I thought maybe he wasn't liking the cereal because he didn't like his seat - two unfamiliar items at once was too big of an adjustment.

I decided to try feeding him in the bouncer/vibrating seat which he loves. It worked. He ate almost all of his cereal. Since Paul was gone last night when I did this I told him about it and suggested he try it when he feeds Dane while I'm at work. Now you have the background.

Paul called me while I was at work. Here is the conversation.
p - "Mieka, didn't you say to feed Dane in his jumper?"
m - "No. I said in his bouncer/vibrating chair. Why?"
p - "Oh. That makes more sense. I was wondering how you fed him in the jumper because it is really hard."
m -"You were trying to feed him while he was jumping?" Laughs on both sides.
p - "Yes."
Lots of laughter!

Now you take your pick. Vibrating seat or...
jumper with super excited boy jumping all over the place.

cereal at last

Here is Dane's first cereal experience. He's such a good helper - holding my hand. :) So he doesn't really love the cereal but little by little I think he'll get the hang of it.
It's now been three days since he started on cereal and he seems to be sleeping a little better. He takes naps longer than 45 minutes now. Today he slept for 2 hours in the morning, 2 1/2 this afternoon and 1 1/2 hours right before bed. I hope this is the start of good sleep habits again.

lazy day

I thought i'd added this post already but it must have had issues while posting. The day Paul got home from the cruise became our lazy day. We stayed in bed all day. We would get out of bed to eat, go to the bathroom, put Dane down for a nap and shower. The rest of the time we just hung out in bed. Paul told me all about the cruise and we played with Dane. It was fun to be a whole family again.

Dane missed his daddy. I love how they are both looking at each other. Precious.
Snuggles!
We needed to make sure Dane got in some play time so while we stayed in bed, we put the jumper in the bathroom doorway and he had a ball. He absolutely loves this toy. And his little rattle which appears in other pictures.
Here are a 2 of the 4 battle wounds from paul's scooter spill while in the Florida Keys. He has some others when the cuts were fresh that we might post later if they aren't too graphic.

pre-spring weather

This week was just enough to wet our appetite for spring. It was into the 50's most days, which allowed for fun walks with Dane. Paul was even brave enough to take Sammy and Dane out at the same time.

We also went and bought a high chair for Dane so we can start to feed him cereal. His first feeding wasn't too bad but he only had a few bites. It was so cute cause he was trying to help me while i fed him, but it made things worse (spilling all over him) LOL.

blogger isn't working so I'll have to upload photos later. Sorry for the boring blog.
