week without paul

While Paul was gone all last week on his cruise, Dane and I had a great time bonding! I couldn't believe how much he changed in just one week and the fun, new things he started to do. I know he looks miserable, but this is Dane first thing in the morning. If he hasn't rolled over before I get in there, he can hear me open the door and pops his head up so he can just barely look over his bumper to see me. He then gets the biggest smile. It's cute enough to melt the toughest heart!
Dane's valentine's gift to paul was a whole bunch of notes and pictures for each day he was gone. This was one of the pics and Dane did such a good job holding up his side of the sign. :)
Dane is also now practicing to sit up.
And this is the cutest of all. He has discovered his tongue. He is always sticking it out and playing with it. It's completely adorable.

nail cutting

It finally happened, a day all mothers dread. I was cutting Dane's nails when all the sudden his facial expression changed. I knew it... I had missed his nail and cut his finger. To see his lower lip begin to quiver...

Dane cried. I cried. The end.

Paul's gone...

Well, last week was Valentine's and my parents watched Dane so we could go out to lunch. It was lots of fun. I think it was the first time we did something special all day, not just for dinner. I made heart pancakes for breakfast, we went to lunch and then we had a candle-lit dinner after Dane went to bed. Oh so romantic... And Paul bought me a beautiful necklace and earring set at my favorite store (although he didn't know it was my favorite store!). Good job honey!

Anyway, last Saturday Paul left for a week on a cruise he qualified for with Xocai. We didn't want to take Dane and he is too young to leave behind so I stayed back. While Paul is gone my mom has been helping out a little. Thanks mom!

And thanks to Uncle Scott and Aunt Veronica for the vibrating chair. Dane absolutely loves it and we can actually get some things done because he is content in there for longer than 5 minutes. And as you can see from the pic, he is a huge fan. :)
And these are my favorites. Since I started back to work I really miss my morning time with Dane. He is so excited to see us when he wakes up and is usually in a good mood and sooo cute. He's a little sleepy but I wanted to capture the moment for me!

And yep - still clasps his hands all the time. So adorable! We love you Dane!!!

makin cookies

Paul was out of town last weekend to California for work. So to welcome him home, Dane and I made his favorite - sugar cookies. Dane was a good helper with the frosting.
But then I wouldn't let him eat any so he decided to help himself to my hand!

Hair cut

Well - I finally broke down and cut my hair. After weeks of fighting with Dane, trying to untangle his fingers from my hair I decided to chop it. Here are some before and afters...

I cut about 14 inches off. And yes, i will be donating it.

Bath and more

Every kid needs a bath picture - this one's G rated. :)

Dane has paul's personality - when he sees something he wants, he's very intense and focused. "I must get that toy!" (This time it was Dane saying that, not Paul.) Dane also does the cutest thing. When he's eating or just hangin out he'll put his hand behind his head. Front view...
Back view.
So the pics don't do it justice but we know how cute it is.

Crawling???

Little Dane has been sick with a cold this week so it's been a little challenge with sleeping (naps and nighttime). His poor nose and cough make it hard for him to breath and we feel bad because we can't really do anything for him other than wash his sheets every day since they are constantly covered in snot. Lol. Sorry to gross you all out! :) He is getting better so that's a relief.

On Thursday we took him to the doctor for his 4 month check up and to get shots. He was a trooper. He is 12lbs 14 oz (25% for weight), 24.5 in(50% for height), and 40.2 cm head (10%). He's growing everyday and we are constantly amazed at his development and skills.

Speaking of skills, he thinks he's a big boy and wants to start crawling and rolling over. The rolling over isn't our fav because he does it when he's sleeping and then wakes up and won't go back to bed. Last night I was up with him every 45 minutes. Exhausting!

We love to see him scoot/crawl. Ok, it really isn't anything yet... but in a few weeks it will be. Right now we put our hands on his feet so he has something to push against and he scoots along the floor. Here are a few fun pics of him trying to be independent. :)

Paul came over as I was taking pictures and you can see Dane loves his dad! And his dad loves him. They are so cute together.
